Hello world! (…again)

After many years and many different platforms, I’m returning to WordPress. Recent events have made it abundantly clear that 3rd parties are not a responsible place to host portfolios or blogs for me.

There are some truly amazing website platforms out there. My last site location, Carrd may be the single best WSYWIG ever designed. Extremely easy to use, beautifully by default, and extremely focused in what it delivers. It’s a genuine shame to be moving away form them, but I do miss having self hosted portfolio and blog options.

Before Carrd I used Artstation for everything, recent choices by Epic Games, and Artstation’s continued support of Generative Machine Learning (AI) is what pushed me away initially, and looking at the current state of the site I’m glad I switched to Carrd when I did. This site here is the final stage in the total migration away form them.

Before Artstaion I had this site…. long has it slumbered, and I’m so glad to be back here now.

I would be much less confident in this site without having used Carrd and Artstaion for so long, there are fantastic ideas at the core of those platforms that makes the experience of building with them inspirational at times. They’ve contributed to my sense of what I should include in a portfolio or website. Their limitations have also inspired the features I am designing to augment this site above my previous portfolios.

If you are reading this I hope you will stick around for the new art I will be posting. If you’ve followed me before I hope you will find this new site brings more depth to the portfolio pieces you have already scene!

So I guess all there is to say now is: Hello World!

Matt
