For our impostor mini game we wanted to translate the experience of games like Among Us into a 3D VR world.
For the level layout it became really important to manage sightlines, in the 2D version players can be off screen, but in a open VR world we need to have walls and objects in between all the puzzles player might be solving.
Workings with Synty assets – modified to ship in Modbox – and Modbox’s lighting tools, I tried to create an Alien inspired atmosphere.
The ship should feel functional and grounded, with lots of nooks and crannies to work in or hide in. Almost every entrance has a obstacle to block sightlines, or a double back to create a private pocket space.
