THe ice kit was designed to give our level design team lots of options.
Long winding and bending paths where a big focus for HeroStar’s locomotion, so tunnels, bridges, ramps, and blending geo that could cover the seams in-between them where a huge priority.
We also wanted interactive environmental elements, spikes that cause damage, single use snow ramps, and snowmen that slow you down if hit.
I used triplanar tiling textures to get the fidelity we wanted at the scale of our arenas. By using world space mapping on our small and large geo, they would always match when placed close together, making the visuals much more harmonious. For more detail I added a UV moped normal map to the asset shader.
