Near the end of the HeroStar Project I was asked to develop some proof of concepts for the ‘Light Beach Entertainment’ logo animation.
This version went the farthest, and was loosely based on the ‘bowl environments’ that where really popular in 2020.
To accomplish the effects here I called on several simulaiton tools from blender:
- The ocean modifier, combined with a Boolean, and a set of special modifiers to clean up any geometry and shading errors.
- Dynamic paint with a wetness simulation to ge the waves and rain interacting with the sand.
- Particle system with physics detection for the rain and the umbrella.
- Volumetric shader to get a realistic cloud that could be controlled to fit inside the spherical target area.
The LBE logo was strongly based on the beach umbrella emoji, part of my design work was keeping the symbolism, while adding some flair in the form of underlighting and glowing edges.
